So here's the timeline of today (:
5:30am: Woke up to get ready and leave for Milwaukee International Airport.
7:00am: Boarded the plane (: Here I am with my momma (:
10:30am: Were now in Eastern Time!!! Just got off the plane, got a cab, & started our 20 minute drive into the city.
11:00am: We arrived at the W Hotel on Lexington and HOLY CRAP ITS BEAUTIFUL! We were able to get into our room right away and though it's small, its sooooo pretty! Our bathroom has the coolest purple textured wallpaper!!! And our view is super nice too!! (:
11:15am: Mom and I went down to the restaurant to get some food before talking with FIT. Turns out the hotel only serves breakfast (weird, right?). So we sat at the bar and had two "small plates" with big prices... Also found out that one glass of wine was $18. Welcome to New York.
12:15pm: We went back to our room, got ready for what we thought was going to be a chilly day and got a cab to FIT. We also found out that the hotel has a COMPLIMENTARY car service! Meaning, I get someone to drive me to the Conde Nast building tomorrow morning - for free. WHAAAAT?!
1:00pm: We finally arrive at FIT and had to go to three different offices to get answers for our questions about transferring and were basically told everything I already knew - great! But at least I was able to walk around campus a little and picture myself going to school there. I absolutely love the location and the people there all dressed so well (and not like hicks, sorry Menomonie). I definitely felt like I belong there!
1:45pm: Instead of getting a cab to SoHo right away, mom and I walked down 7th Ave a little bit and stopped at World Foods for a box sushi and taking in the extreme amount of Starbucks within a mile of each other.
2:15pm: We got a cab to SoHo to explore the wonderful shopping district!! I could tell the second we got there that it would be wonderful! We passed Versasce & Balenciaga & I couldn't help but stop in BCBG Max Azria, Tiffany & Co (ehem, Zachary!!), Chanel and finally DASH!! Despite rumors that there are mile long lines to get in the place and the sales associates are extremely rude; we had a really pleasant experience (: The sales associates were so sweet and the store was GORGEOUS! There was a lot of Kardashian merchandise and gorgeous pictures of them. The clothing wasn't the greatest quality, but I got a Dash keychain. I felt the need to buy something and that was the cheapest (:
3:30pm: We got done shopping in SoHo and got a cab back to our hotel. We decided not to take the subway there because we're not familiar with the system and weren't in the mood to get lost! But we had a super nice cab driver on the way back! We just lounged in the hotel and got a little dinner from room service before I got ready for the H&M shopping event (:
5:30pm: All dressed up, I met a friend from Stout, Dalton, in the lobby of the W to go to the H&M event together. It is really nice to have someone to go with so I'm not alone the whole weekend. Dalton is super sweet and such a fun shopping buddy (: My mom decided not to go the the H&M event with us because she didn't want to be the only mom - she wouldn't have been. Weirdo... love you mom!
5:45pm: Dalton & I started walking what we thought was 10 blocks up to H&M, we got tired after 4 and decided to hail a cab. Turns out, I had the address to another H&M on Lexington and the cab driver took us only one more block ahead of where we got him. And since there are only one way streets, it was a 10 minute drive and $10 cab ride for a 3 minute walk - FAIL.
6:15pm: Dalton & I waited in the long line to enter the two story H&M. We were greeted with a red carpet, door people taking our names. Walking into H&M was overwhelming but awesome! There were welcome signs everywhere saying that we got a 25% off discount in the whole store. There was also a DJ and the band Blondefire played a couple songs. The place was packed but we spent an hour in a half walking in circles on both floors eyeing all the merchandise and taking advantage of that 25% off. Dalton even found two people he knew from Stout last year who have transferred to FIT this year! What a coincidence!
7:30pm: We checked out and left a half hour early to go and get some food. I left with a sweater and scarf for only $20! Dalton got a couple tops and a sweet pair of denim for an awesome price too. Thanks H&M & Teen Vogue (: We stopped at a small cafe and I got a piece of eggplant Parmesan pizza - FREAKING GENIUS! That was delish! We walked back to my hotel and then he walked back to his. It's only 8pm but were both worn out from traveling, walking, & shopping.
9:45pm: So its only 9:45 here but I am pooped and ready to turn in since tomorrow is going to be extremely long and full of amazing everything! Keep posted for more (:
